Mentoring Session Tim Nover

Last Tuesday, futureEU welcomed Hertie Alumnus Tim Nover (MPP 2006-2008) back to campus. Current students got the chance to ask their questions about the diplomatic service!

Tim previously worked as Political Assistant to the Secretary General at the EEAS, the EU’s diplomatic service. He is currently a diplomat at the German foreign office, the Auswärtiges Amt. With diplomatic experience at both the EU and national level, Tim was able to share invaluable insights into both national and EU level diplomacy.

During the session, we learned more about Tim’s own career path, and reflected on a variety of topics. These included the skills required in diplomacy, the professional pathways in the foreign service, and more widely what to expect from a diplomatic career.

Mentor sessions allow alumni or other practitioners to come (back) to Hertie and share their journey with current students. These insights help us get a better understanding of what it means to walk a certain path, and get a little closer to finding our own.

Again we sincerely thank Tim for taking the time to share his insights with us and to those who attended and asked great questions.

Who should we invite for the next mentoring session?
