CIVICA students shaping the EU of tomorrow.

Do you have ideas on how you would like to reform the EU? Do you want to have your ideas heard?

Oral Round

For the oral round, the best teams are invited to Berlin*. The team are tasked to adapt their campaign proposal into a policy brief (up to 1500 words). The round consists of two phases, the semi-final and the final.

In the semi-final, all teams present their policy brief and present it to the judges, who challenge, provide feedback and evaluate the proposals.

Two teams will move on to the final, to present again in front of the judges and a wider audience, having integrated the judges’ feedback. Once again, the judges evaluate the two proposals and declare the winning team.

Written Round

During the written round, all registered teams submit a campaign proposal (up to 750 words) on the outlining the objectives, strategies of a candidate member of the 2024 European Parliament elections. Students also share a short video or infographic outlining their idea and the importance of it for the future of the EU. A popular vote will pre-select three teams from each university, before the judges evaluate the written proposals and select the teams moving on to the oral rounds.

How does it happen?

The futurEU competition consists of two rounds, the written round and the oral round.

*please note that the organization of an in-person finale and the reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs depends on successful fundraising to cover these costs. This will be confirmed in Spring 2024.

What are the rules?

As every competition, ours has rules too. You might think they are too long, too boring, but they will be helpful. When you sign up, you will agree to them, so better take a look at what you are agreeing to!

What is in it for me?

Besides the obvious? A lot!
