I am pleased to address you through this message. You are a driving force of positive change. You have a key role to play in shaping the European Union of tomorrow!
As part of our vision for the future, the Commission is developing initiatives to make the European Education Area a reality by 2025. We want all young people to benefit from the best education and training.
Our vision is for an Education Area where spending time abroad to study and learn is the norm; where higher education qualifications and mobility periods abroad are automatically recognised across the EU; where everyone is able to access high-quality education, irrespective of their socio-economic background; and where young people have a strong sense of European identity.
This vision should reflect the aspirations of students. It should reflect your passion, creativity and ideas on how to make our societies fairer, more resilient, digital and greener.
As students of the CIVICA Alliance - the European University of Social Sciences – you are in a unique position to shape Europe’s future.
Firstly, you belong to the European Universities’ family, so you are part of a new generation of creative Europeans, able to work together in different languages and across borders and disciplines.
Secondly, as young scholars of social sciences, I know very well how committed you are to making our European societies better living and learning spaces.
This is why I strongly encourage you to take part in the futurEU Competition, a fantastic student-led initiative aimed at contributing to the debate on shaping the EU of tomorrow. This is a great opportunity to make your views heard and share what really matters to you.
